Jot down a list of things that are symbolic in our culture. Examples: The Red dress, cindarella's shoe, Desdemona's handkerchief, seven-league boots, statue of liberty, etc.
Now think back to an object that was really important to you in childhood, that you imbued with meaning...maybe even saw as having special powers.
Write a scene that includes both your object and one of the other symbolic objects.
