This is one I gave to my Playwriting One students, after we generated it together. More always welcome...
As promised, a list of language tactics/strategies you can employ in your play (or in life, but don't blame me if that elicits strange reactions).
Rhyme, iambic pentameter, Constant Swearing, Stuttering, Made Up Words, Using Words incorrectly (Malapropisms), Palindromes (good luck with that one), Innuendo, sexual language, puns, whispering/shouting, metaphor, singing, one word lines, colloquialisms, onomonapaea (spelling? Help me out here), hesitation/pause, repetition, alliteration, assonance, foreign languages, dialect/accents/local vernacular, poetry/verse, relentless contemporary and/or pop culture references, spelling words the way they sound, metonyme, implication, breaking up of lines, big words, similes, hyperbole, silence, muttering/mumbling, apostrophes to shorten words, baby talk, rambling, constant substitution of innocuous words for swear words, constant quoting, brevity, highly imagistic language...
