Character Mandala Exercise (Part II)

1) Take one of the people you described in Part I, and write the most specific memory you have of him or her, in as much detail as you can. Now the next. Now the next.

2) What story is that? Think of a story that exists in the world that is LIKE THIS STORY.
Take a few minutes to write down that story (for example: the first time I did this exercise, I told the story of sitting on a porch with an inspirational teacher and a smart boy I'd had a crush on in high school. The story that was LIKE that story was Anne of Green Gables.

3) What known story is the OPPOSITE of your story?
Take a minute to write IT down (the first time I wrote this story, I wrote down "Little Red Riding Hood" and "A Dragon Story" and "Snow White." I suspect that your choices matter less than your willingness to work in opposition to your original story...again, this is an exercise, to some degree, about tricking your brain away from its well-trodden paths).
