What is Image - Ehn

Says Ehn:

"Image is a NOUN with the energy of a verb.  A thing that has so much energy it threatens the nature of the thing, that it threatens to consume the universe.  An image is an object ensouled, not only itself, but the quality of itself.

Not a cup, but the president of Cupville.
Not a slap, but the entire relationship between men and women in a single gesture.

It is our job, as writers, to have a complicated, fated, loving relationship with images -- not in a sentimental way; love is a real problem"

I loved this idea of love as a problem, and I love the idea that it is our job to make images so strong they become the "president of cupville."  Images as active, images as full of real ferocity and power.  That's ambitious.
