Canary

Is a musical-in-progress by a playwright I know. It's Bluegrass/punk, which I find especially cool, and the performers were great.

Molly, the writer, crafts a mean monologue. The show's pace was still meandering, and I think it's still finding itself, but this was a script-in-hand reading, which is REALLY tough for what she's writing, so that makes it a little bit hard to tell. I hope she got what she wanted to from it. I enjoyed myself, anyway.

There was a nice crowd for what was, essentially, an invited dress. It was the first time I'd seen Rattlestick Theater's space, which I loved, felt very much like a Chicago storefront space. Seemed like good people.
