When you meet people, be on the lookout for PEOPLE you want to work with -- don't get too overwhelmed by people. Think of it like dating. Desperation has a smell.
Keep your contact with people EVENT BASED
(1) Go to OPENINGS of shows
(2) Go to the big weekends of the big festivals (like Humana)
(3) Give people the opportunity to see your work. Always email everyone when you have a reading or workshop. Even if they're not in the same city. Simple -- a few lines long.
(4) ALWAYS send an example of your work if invited to do so.
(5) You can send out your work ONCE IT REPRESENTS ITSELF.
(6) And send thank you notes :)
(7) Apply again and again. If you don't get something, call to see if there are panel notes.
